Acupuncture London
Acupuncture is an ancient practice, widely believed to be over 2,000 years old. It is used worldwide as an effective way of treating a range of health problems as well as relieving stress, relaxing the body and mind and improving general wellbeing. Acupuncture is an effective way to relieve a whole range of health problems and is also a holistic treatment, designed to re-balance the mind, body and soul. Just about anything can be treated with acupuncture. This is because our focus is not on the specific illness you have, but in understanding the state and balance of your energy. Types of Acupuncture Treatments
Cosmetic Acupuncture
Cosmetic acupuncture is fast becoming a popular and effective way to revitalise your skin. This treatment involves the insertion of hair-thin needles into specific areas on the face and body to improve energy flow. The procedure is followed by a facial cream massage and finally the application of a Jade roller to close the skin pores. This indulgent treatment increases local circulation to the face and stimulates collagen production, thus nourishing and moisturising skin from the inside, minimising fine lines, lifting sagging skin, brightening eyes, increasing blood and lymph circulation. It ultimately gives the skin a healthy complexion with natural, radiant and younger looking skin.

Fertility Acupuncture
Acupuncture is increasingly being used to address infertility issues. Whether you’ve just started trying to conceive and want to boost your chances of success, or if you’ve been trying for a while and want to address a specific problem, acupuncture could help by releasing blocked energy in your reproductive system, thereby optimising your fertility levels.
We also commonly support the process of IVF. For example, recent studies show that women undergoing IVF who receive acupuncture pre- and post-embryo transfer have significantly improved rates of pregnancy and live births. In a recent study, published in the British Medical Journal in February 2008, Manheimer and colleagues reported that acupuncture may help increase IVF success by 65%.

Traditional Acupuncture
Acupuncture works by encouraging the body to promote a natural healing process. In Chinese medicine, all illness is caused by blockages in the natural flow of energy around the body. By asking you questions and through an examination of your tongue and pulse, your acupuncturist is able to diagnose where these blockages in energy flow are. By inserting very fine needles into specific points on the body, the energy can be improved and the symptoms of many illnesses addressed. Some of the more common things that acupuncture treats include:
- All sorts of muscular and joint pain. The NHS recommends acupuncture as the best treatment for lower back pain
- Women’s problems such as painful periods, heavy bleeding, endometriosis, Polycystic ovaries.
- The symptoms of menopause, such as hot flushes, poor sleep, bloating, etc.
- Infertility
- Stress, anxiety and low mood
- Tiredness and fatigue
- Insomnia and other sleep problems
- Digestive problems like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)
- Headaches and migraines
- Stopping smoking
- Weight control
- General well being
